Saturday with a Scientist - Bell Museum

Martian Soils and Growing Food in Space
Jay Bell
Saturday, January 23, 2016 - 11:00am to 2:00pm

What does it take to grow and cultivate our food? Water, nutrients, and energy. But what happens if you want to grow food in outerspace or with aquaponics/fish poop? Explore innovative solutions to challenging locations and how it can be grown both on planet and off with University of Minnesota researchers Dr. Jay Bell from the Department of Soil, Water and Climate and Josh Eagan, Ph.D. student in conservation biology. Also, celebrate the opening of the Bell Museum's new exhibit: Hungry Planet!

Engage in authentic science and inquiry learning...and have a lot of fun in the process! Saturday with a Scientist is designed for all ages, and provides a unique opportunity to explore and participate in hands-on activities inspired and led by University of Minnesota researchers and special guest experts.
