Introduction

I grew up on a hobby farm in western Wisconsin and received my B.S. in both Agricultural Education and Environmental Science at Iowa State University. I then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received my M.S. in Soil Science. I worked in the nutrient management field the past fourteen years as the Iowa Environmental Services Senior Manager for The Maschhoffs, one of the largest family-owned swine businesses in North America. I have maintained my Certified Crop Adviser certification since 2006 and received one the Iowa Secretary of Agriculture’s Ag Leader Award for CCAs in 2019.

My husband and I are grain farmers in southern Kossuth County, Iowa. Together we have experimented and implemented various conservation practices including strip-till, grass waterways, and cover crops. Because of my personal interest in soil and water conservation, I ran and was elected as a Kossuth Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Commissioner for the past seven years. I currently serve as the Chair of the Kossuth SWCD.
